Taking the modern take on the Bowie concept a little further, the third and last of the three Designer Prototypes switches to a frame construction and brings materials, colors and textures into unexpected juxtapositions. The two-tone black and green G10 frame merges with the laminated green and black Micarta scales, to create not only a striking relief but also to form a handle unit that naturally seems to morph into the perfect grip; the titanium guard and spacer provide a clean and gleaming contrast, announcing the blade, which is the real star here, a fast fighter with a hollow grind and a fuller that gets straight to the point.

Knifemaker

Tashi Bharucha

From France.

Though Tashi’s fascination with this tool reaches back as far as he can remember, it wasn’t until 2007 that he began designing folding knives and collaborating with knife makers. He has had the pleasure and privilege of working with the best, cementing his reputation with a truly distinctive aesthetic. In 2010, he rented a workshop and started under his own stamp. Currently, his knife-making evolves along multiple tracks: making knives from A to Z by hand, in his workshop; working with artists-craftspeople who involve him either as designer or in a 4 hands collaboration, like the last two projects with the great Bob Terzuola; finally, designing for established brands such as Reate, Fox Knives and Custom Knife Factory. To date there have been about 15 such industrial collaborations.
